Tą grafikę narysowałam wiele lat temu będąc na Bali. 

To detale świata roślinnego, zwierzęcego, mitologii i sztuki tej wyspy, jak i moich odczuć z niej. 

Miejsca prawdziwe, miejsca zmyślone, stworzenia żyjące na tamtej ziemi, stworzenia mitologiczne, stworzenia czczone, detale ze sztuki tej wyspy…

Wszystkie te jakości tak różne od jakości kawałka ziemi, na którym ja się urodziłam i wychowałam.

I tak to czuję, że w  różnych miejscach ziemia i powietrze pachnie inaczej, woda inaczej się przemieszcza, roślinny inaczej rozrastają się a liście i płatki kwiatów mogą układać się w inne porządki i mozaiki.

Drzewa, na przykład, mogą tanecznie piąć się w górę do słońca albo obficie rozrastać na boki, czasem namiętnie przelewają swoje gałęzie i korzenie zatapiając je w ziemi i kamieniach. Czasem kumulują w sobie cenną wodę wytwarzając zarazem grubą skórę albo warstwę ochronnych kolców. 

…A każda ziemia, powietrze, woda, mitologia kształtuje też ludzi tych ziemi, ich codzienne życie, ich obawy, idee, sny i marzenia. 

W swoim życiu miałam możliwość życia w miejscu skrajnie innym od tego, które znałam od dziecka. W małych miasteczkach na czerwonej ziemi w sercu Australijskiego buszu. Byłam tam częścią społeczności ludzi, tak jak teraz jestem częścią społeczności małego miasteczka w Polsce. I tak sobie patrze na te dwa życia. Każde z nich pośród skrajnie innej roślinności, każde z tych miejsc ma zupełnie inną historię, inną kulturę, inne krajobrazy. Życiu w tych miejscach czasem towarzyszą inne wyzwania, czasem inne idee a te same słowa mogą mieć różne znaczenie… ale czuję, że w swoim rdzeniu te społeczności, ci ludzie bliscy mi w jednym i drugim miejscu, są do siebie bardzo podobni. I tak to czuję, że w każdym miejscu na ziemi jesteśmy kształtowani przez inną fizyczną jak i niewidzialną scenerię, mamy do dyspozycji inne rekwizyty i narzędzia codziennego życia.

Każda sceneria jest inna. Fizycznie, energetycznie, kulturowo, mitologicznie jak i w swoich niewidzialnych wymiarach. 

Lepsza? Gorsza? Piękniejsza? Brzydsza? Bardziej ekscytująca?

…po prostu inna tak, jak różne mogą być scenografie na scenie w teatrze.

Te scenografie kształtują nas i też z nimi musimy tutaj grać i do nich się odnosić na codzień…

...ale czuję, że to, co najprawdziwsze dzieje się jeszcze głębiej…

w tembrze bijącego serca aktora, który odgrywa rolę na deskach teatru 

niezależnie od tego w jakiej sztuce i pośród jakiej scenografii gra.

I made this drawing many years ago while travelling in Bali.

It reflects the details of the plant and animal world, the mythology and art of this island, as well as my own feeling of this island.

Real places, imagined places, creatures living on that land, mythological creatures, worshiped creatures, details from the art of this island…

All these qualities so different from the quality of land where I was born and raised.

And so I feel that in different places the earth and air smell different, water moves differently, plants grow in a different way, and leaves and flower petals can arrange themselves in different orders and mosaics.

Trees, for example, can dance upwards towards the sun or spread profusely sideways, sometimes passionately spilling their branches and roots & sinking them into the earth and stones. Sometimes they accumulate precious water within themselves, simultaneously developing a thick skin or a layer of protective thorns. …And every land, air, water, and mythology also shapes the people of these lands, their daily lives, their fears, ideas, dreams, and desires.

In my life, I had the opportunity to live in a place radically different from the one I knew from my childhood. In small towns on the red earth in the heart of the Australian bush. I was part of a community there, just as I am now part of a community in a small town in Poland. And when I look at these two lives each one of them was amidst radically different vegetation. Each of these places has a completely different history, a different culture, different landscapes. Life in these places is sometimes accompanied by different daily dilemmas, sometimes different purpose, and the same words can have different meanings… but I feel that at their core, these communities, these people close to me in both places, are very similar. And so I feel that in each place on Earth - we are shaped by different physical and invisible scenery and we have different props and tools at our disposal for everyday life.

Every setting is different. Physically, energetically, culturally, mythologically, and in its invisible dimensions.

Better? Worse? More beautiful? Uglier? More exciting?

…simply different, 

just as different scenography can be on a theater stage.

These sets shape us, as we relate to them daily…

…but I feel that what is most true happens even deeper…

…it’s in the timbre of the beating heart of an actor playing a role on the stage,

regardless of the scenography and the type of the play he or she plays in.
